This large ornamental tree, with a dense canopy, can provide shelter fairly quickly. With its distinguished yellow branches, it provides colour to the landscape year-round, especially under a winter snowscape. The stems can be used in basketry, weaving, and outdoor winter arrangements.
The Golden willow likes water, but will not tolerate long periods of drought. This tree doesn’t require much extra care and, luckily, doesn’t have many pest or disease problems. It prefers loam soil but will live in many soil conditions; however, it will not tolerate alkaline soils. This tree supports many wildlife species, including songbirds and fur-bearing mammals.
Seedling size is approximately 12” tall, 1 year old.
