This dense evergreen is the old standby. While it is considered a slower grower, this evergreen is still your best choice for year-round wind protection and privacy. It is very winter hardy and can live for quite a long time, ranging from 50-100 years. Grows best in well-drained silty loam and clay soils. This tree does not perform well in saline soil. It can provide year-round habitats to wildlife, including many seed-eating birds.
Seedling size is approximately 12” tall, 1 year old.
