This large ornamental tree, with a dense canopy, can provide you with shelter fairly fast. With its distinguished yellow branches, it provides colour to the landscape year round, especially under a winter snowscape. The stems can be used in basketry and weaving, and outside winter arrangements. The Golden willow likes water, but will not tolerate long periods of drought. This tree doesn’t require a lot of extra care, and luckily doesn’t have many pests or disease problems. Prefers a loam soil but will live in many soil conditions, however, it will not tolerate alkaline soils. This tree is home to many wildlife species including song birds, and fur bearing mammals.
