Carefully selected from the University of Saskatchewan breeding program, this hardyย fruit is also known as honeyberries. This easy to pick super fruit is steadily gaining popularity for its nutritious value and high fruit production. Perfect for urban settings with little space.

Haskap plants are low maintenance. They prefer well-drained soil with a bit of acidity with a pH of 5.5 and 7. Plant in groupings or as a hedge. While planting, mix in some organic matter like compost or peat moss to give them a nutrient-rich start.

Aurora Honeyberry is quickly becoming the standard for fresh eating honeyberries. While not as deeply pigmented or nutritious as other varieties, it has a higher sugar content and larger berry size than most varieties.

Aurora is known as medium-grower, its recommended pollinator, Honey Bee, may grow slightly taller, reaching 5.75 to 7.4 feet. Fully grown haskap shrubs can produce 3 – 4.5 kg (6 – 10 lbs) of fruit per year. A fully mature bush can take 5-7 years.

Haskap berries are generally considered healthier than blueberries due to their higher antioxidant content, including anthocyanins. They contain more Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium than blueberries. While blueberries are a good source of nutrients, haskaps offer a more potent dose of beneficial compounds.

Haskaps are generally not bothered by deer. Birds may eat the berries as they ripen, but can be deterred by draping plants with bird netting. Resistant to powdery mildew.

The list of uses for this berry is truly endless. Raw, baking and preserving are just some of the ways to enjoy this super berry.

Seedling size is approximately 4-6โ€ tall , 1 year old. Sold in bundles of 3. You will receive 2 โ€˜Auroraโ€™ and 1 โ€˜Honeybeeโ€™.
