The villosa lilac is a dense shrub that is a  great choice in a variety of planting situations including, to plant as a row in your Shelterbelt, road and laneway plantings, privacy purposes and for ornamental value near the home. Will grow in a wide variety of soils, including moderately alkaline soil, and are drought tolerant. This variety of lilac does not sucker.  Villosa is known as the ‘late lilac’, as it blooms after the common lilac, in the later part of June. The Villosa has a light purple-pink flower and has less fragrance than the common lilac.
